At the heart of our cryogenic vapor treatment process is the mobile cryogenic unit (Cirrus), supported by liquid and vaporized nitrogen. Together, they form a clean, efficient and fully non-combustive system that achieves up to 99.9% VOC emission reduction, the most sustainable vapor treatment method available in Europe.
The process begins inside the cryogenic unit, where liquid nitrogen (LIN) is used as an ultra-low-temperature cooling medium. As product vapors enter the unit, the LIN rapidly cools the incoming stream, enabling the condensation of vapors without combustion, additives, or chemical reactions. This pure cooling step is the foundation of the cryogenic method, ensuring maximum efficiency with minimal environmental impact.
As the liquid nitrogen warms, it vaporizes and this nitrogen gas plays several critical roles in the process. First, it powers and steers the internal valves and controls of the cryogenic unit and supports defrosting when required to keep the system running continuously and safely. Second, the vaporized nitrogen is used to push product vapors out of the source medium, whether it is a storage tank, sphere, barge, vessel, ISO tank, or rail tank car. This dual action makes nitrogen a clean, safe and efficient driver of the entire vapor treatment operation.
Once inside the cryogenic unit, the product vapors are cooled to the point where they condense into liquid. This recovered condensate, now a usable product is returned to the client wherever possible. When required, specialized third-party handlers manage the remaining condensate safely and responsibly. Throughout the entire process, no combustion occurs, eliminating the formation of CO₂, NOx, or other harmful by-products and allowing for a circular, low-emission recovery loop.
