Degassing and Purging of a Naphtha Barge

A 3,000 m³ tanker barge previously loaded with naphtha required degassing and purging before inspection and maintenance, targeting a vapor level below 10% LEL.

Client: BASF

Duration: 72 hours

Location: Antwerp, Belgium

Results: Zero environmental emissions

The Challenge

A 3,000 m³ tanker barge previously loaded with naphtha required degassing and purging before inspection and maintenance, targeting a vapor level below 10% LEL.

Equipment Deployed

Using cryogenic condensation with liquid nitrogen (−105°C), AQ Degassing recovered hydrocarbon vapors while simultaneously inerting the barge to maintain a safe, non-explosive atmosphere.

Results Achieved

  • 1,058 liters of naphtha condensate recovered and treated by a certified external partner.
  • 11 metric tons of nitrogen utilized for inerting and vapor displacement.
  • Operation executed safely and efficiently, achieving full compliance with emission and safety targets.
